Best Film: Vitti Dandu
The Devgns and the Deores achieved quite a feat, winning the Best Film Award for Vitti Dandu. What makes the Award special is that for Ajay Devgn, Kajol and Leena Deore, it is their first foray as producers in the Marathi film industry. No doubt, the Devgns have produced Hindi films under their banner Ajay Devgn Films Productions, producing a Marathi film—notwithstanding the fact that Marathi is Kajol’s mother tongue — it was a new field to try their hand at. The unique relationship between a grandfather and his grandson is what appealed to them. Interestingly, while last year, versatile actress Tanuja had bagged the award for her excellent performance in the Marathi film Pitruroon, this year it was daughter Kajol’s turn to step into the spotlight with Vitti Dandu.
