Director Kalpana Lajmi, who is noted for her women-centric films like Daman and Rudaali, had announced the making of two biopics. One was on the life of actor Priya Rajvansh who was allegedly murdered in 2000 and the other, a biopic on noted film-maker-lyricist-musician-singer and poet Bhupen Hazarika.
While, she was planning to direct and co-produce the Priya Rajvansh biopic with Shanu Mehra, the project, according to Lajmi, “has been kept in abeyance. I had worked on it for three years, since 2009 to 2011, but now, we have to pitch it further and find a sound financier and a willing actor to play the female lead.”
Meanwhile, Lajmi was busy in 2013 to, “complete the writing of the entire raw material of my 40 years of being in a relationship with Hazarika. Mahesh Bhatt has consented to be officially involved with the film. We shall now start work on the screenplay and look for financiers and finalise the actors,” says Lajmi.
