Jackie Shroff is on a high these days, literally. While some of his latest films like Dhoom 3 and Happy New Year have been successes, not to mentioned the Tamil film Kochadaiyaan alongside Rajinikant, the actor has been doing only good job. His negative role in HNY as Grover, the stylish and arrogant hotelier is praiseworthy.
Another feat to his name is that two of his most famous films, namely Ram Lakhan also starring Anil Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Dimple Kapadia, Rakhee, Anupam Kher and Amrish Puri in pivotal roles and Hero, with Meenakshi Seshadri, Sanjeev Kumar, Shammi Kapoor, Amrish Puri, Madan Puri, Bindu, Bharat Bhushan and Shakti Kapoor in the lead are being remade with a new perspective. Both the film were directed by Subhash Ghai in the eighties,
And recently there were reports about Jackie Shroff being part of the Hero remake starring Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty and that he would be playing Pasha, the villainous role that Amrish Puri essayed in the original 1983 blockbuster. When contacted, Shroff categorically stated that he was not part of the project and that someone was just making stories out of nothing. “Moreover, I am waiting for the script, if I am to do the film,” said the actor who has more reasons to be on a happy platter with his son gaining popularity for his looks following the release of his Heropanti in May this year.
