Akshay Kumar and Ashvini Yardi’s banner Grazing Goat Pictures launched the theatrical trailer and first look of their upcoming production venture, Fugly. The film is set in the bylanes of Delhi, where it explores the life of four close-knit friends, whose friendship and personality traits are put to test as they come across an extremely corrupt police officer, SHO Chautala (Jimmy Sheirgill). While talking about his role, Sheirgill said, “I am really proud of this film and the entire credit obviously goes to the producers and the director. It has an amazing cast. I don’t think I have done this kind of role before and it has a brilliant script.”
One of the most anticipated debutants of this year, Mohit Marwah, Anil Kapoor’s nephew, will be seen making his debut as Dev, along with Olympic medalist boxer Vijender Singh and model turned actress Kiara Advani, who play Gaurav and Devi respectively. Arfi Lamba will be seen playing the role of a latrine shop owner. While talking about the film, producer Ashvini Yardi stated, “After OMG… Oh My God, we were not sure of what our next project will be. But, Kabir’s vision made our job simpler.” Kabir Sadanand visualised the film as a social thriller, which specifically caters to the youth. “The whole idea was to create a youth anthem. A lot of people is colleges and schools all across the country, use the word Fugly. It’s an expression having various connotations, be it sadness, happiness, loneliness or togetherness. Fugly always comes from the heart,” mentioned Sadanand.
Kumar, who was seen promoting the film along with the cast, mentioned that a special song starring him and Salman Khan was shot in Mehboob Studios and will be releasing in the next 2-3 weeks. “The song is merely promotional and has no connection with the film. But we had great fun shooting for it. As for the film, there is a risk even when I act in my own films. So, I know there is a risk in this as well. But, it’s not like I’m losing sleep over it. I am very confident about the film and that’s why I’m supporting them,” mentioned Kumar.
