Unlike several other romantic comedies that depict the leading lady crying for her love, Happy Ending‘s music not only features a romantic song, but also features a song namely Mileya Mileya which centers around the girl giving up on her close friend who she loves.
“In the film, Saif and Ileana are friends and Ileana continually brings out the best in him. The two arein love, but he doesn’t realize it until she walks out of his life,” says Priya Andrews, one of the playback singers who’s lent her voice for this song. The song has also been sung by Rekha Bhardwaj and Jigar Saraiya.
“We wanted to blend Indian and western voices, and experiment with three voices together; duets are common. We also wanted someone (aka Rekha Bhardwaj) who could sing folk songs. Mine and Jigar’s voices are more western in comparison,” explains Andrews who is singing for Ileana D’cruz while Jigar Saraiya has lent his voice for Saif Ali Khan. Bhardwaj on the other hand is singing from a third person’s perspective. Happy Ending is Priya Andrew’s second film, she was last heard in Shake Your Bootiya from Finding Fanny with Divya Kumar.
