Even as Rang Rasiya released in theatres all over, a Kerala court stayed the release of the film in the state. The interim stay order was issued by a court in Alapuzha district on a complaint by Indiradevi Kunjama, a relative of the 19th century Indian painter Raja Ravi Varma, on whose life the film is based. The makers were asked to add a disclaimer that the film has no connection with the personal life of Varma.

No screening

A special screening of PK may not be held for Sanjay Dutt in jail. It was Aamir Khan’s wish to show the film to Dutt, who plays Aamir’s friend Bhairo Singh. Apparently the Maharashtra Police’s prison department has rejected Khan’s request of holding a screening for Sanjay in the Yerwada prison, where he is currently serving a sentence. The authorities want to treat all the prisoners equally and don’t want to show preferential treatment towards the actor who is convicted for illegal possession of arms in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case.
