Ever since film-maker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra announced Mirza Sahiba, a love tragedy inspired from folk tales, that will introduce Anil Kapoor’s son Harshwardhan Kapoor, there have been speculations about who will play the leading lady opposite him. After auditioning several girls, the film-maker has zeroed in on Ayesha Kapur, who had played the young Rani Mukerji in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Black and Piyush Jha’s Sikandar and yesteryear actress Usha Kiran’s granddaughter and Tanvi Azmi’s niece, Saiyami Kher a professional model who made her debut in the Telugu film Rey. After attending workshops in January, Kapoor and Kher are the contenders to play the lead in the film.
When contacted Kapoor’s management company Kwan said that “It’s true, both the girls are in the running for the part, but we are as clueless as you regarding who has been selected.”
The director did not respond to our message, inquiring who among the two has been selected. The script has been penned by Gulzar.
