Amitabh Bachchan to start shooting for Shoojit Sircar’s ‘Piku’ in August

Amitabh Bachchan has been juggling quite a few projects this year. While he is busy promoting his first release of 2014, Bhoothnath Returns, he has also started shooting for R. Balki’s untitled directorial venture with Dhanush. Soon after that, the veteran actor will start work on Shoojit Sircar’s next titled Piku.

“I have been busy with quite a few things. There are a few shots left for Bhoothnath Returns and then, there is Balki’s film which I am already working on. Once I am done with these commitments, I will then start work on Piku, which will be directed by Shoojit,” stated Bachchan, who added that the latter is a quirky film. When contacted, producer Ronnie Lahiri confirmed that Piku is a slice-of-life film, with a quirky take on things.

“The quirky elements in the film will make you smile. Piku will have three main characters and the lead cast includes Amitabh Bachchan, Irrfan and a female protagonist, who is yet to be finalised. It is not Deepika Padukone, as reported.” Lahiri further added that the film explores the father and daughter relationship, with a quirky twist. Bachchan will be seen playing the father, while Irrfan is a principal character. Although, the film will take off by

May end or first week of June, Bachchan has confirmed that he will start shooting for the film only in August. Piku will be set in Delhi and Kolkata.
