Although the current promos of 2 States show her to be a cheerful, fun loving girl named Ananya Subramaniam, actress Alia Bhatt will be seen playing a brand manager of hair care brand, Sunsilk towards the second half of the film, after she graduates. Bhatt confirmed the same and stated, “Ananya is definitely more intelligent and smarter than me. After completing her studies at the IIM, she bags a job as the brand manager of Sunsilk in Chennai. There is a complete change in my character after that, as I become more responsible, sincere and focussed. Ananya is the epitome of a modern, confident girl.” Interestingly, the brand also has a special tie-up with the film for exclusive campaigns.

Interestingly, her co-star in the film, Arjun Kapoor as Krish Malhotra also bags a job in the same city as her and that’s when the duo decide to settle down and approach their parents for the same. “I think that is when the roller-coaster ride starts, because despite the fact that both of us are working in good firms and are in love with each other, it’s the culture that creates barriers,” added Bhatt. The actress, who plays a Tamil girl, mentioned that her on-screen mother, actress Revathy helped her in getting the basic nuances and Tamil dialect right. “She taught me to pronounce some words like they are supposed to be. Thankfully, my character is not a caricature or a stereotypical Tamil girl, so I just had to get the basic nuances right,” stated the actress.
