Which film should I do in Hindi? Malayalam Premam director asks audience

Director Alphonse Puthren has asked his audience about the kind of movie they want him to make.

Normally, filmmakers conceive a storyline, develop that into a script, approach producers and leading actors to make the film. But, young director Alphonse Puthren is setting a new precedent. He has asked his audience about the kind of movie they want him to make.

Alphonse is planning to make his directorial debut in the Bollywood. In order to zero in on a script, he has started an open discussion on his Facebook account.

Alphonse’s last outing Premam, starring Nivin Pauly, rocked the Kerala box office. The film was well received by the audience and critics and its success even inspired a Telugu remake, which has Naga Chaitanya in the lead and is set to hit the big screen on October 7.

We understand that Alphonse is in talks with producers in the Bollywood and that he has plans to make his debut film in Hindi based on his previous projects. While Premam was a romantic comedy, Neram was a dark comedy-thriller. However, before he decides, he wants to hear from the audience on this as they are the ones who made both his directorial ventures a hit.

Anyway, he has also clarified that his Hindi film won’t be a frame to frame remake of his previous work. He will only use the premise of the film to develop a new story.

“If I was to take neram or premam in Hindi … As the audience…which film do you think I should do first in Hindi?,” he asked in his Facebook post.

“I won’t remake it … I will adapt and re tell it again. For those who have watched my films it will be a different narration again. So now would you wanna watch neram, premam or something new in Hindi ?,” he added.

“Openly tell me. (sic) I’m in Mumbai the third time. I need prayers, blessings and open discussions regarding my next film.”

And the particular Facebook post has been getting a lot of reactions with nearly 4000 comments and over 10,000 likes at the time of writing this article.
