It’s a double whammy for Vishal’s next action flick Okkadochadu, Kaththi Sandai in Tamil, as the movie has been further pushed to the next year to join the Sankranti race. The actor took to Twitter to announce the change of plan and promised that the film is “worth the wait”.
“Ok it is final. #KaththiSandai will be releasing for #PONGAL2017. Sorry for the delay. But it’s going to be worth the wait. @tamannaahspeaks @hiphoptamizha. GB,” Vishal said.
The film, which was first planned to be screened on November 18, was hit by the demonetisation drive and was pushed to December. “Due to the ongoing situation in the country, Okkadochadu has been postponed. We are planning to release the movie in December,” producer G Hari had said last week. However, the consistent cash crunch forced the filmmakers to change the dates.
The producers are also not taking any risk as the movie was said to be made on a hefty budget. The makers have said that songs and action sequences have been picturised very lavishly, noting that the movie will be the “costliest movie in Vishal’s career”. The movie reportedly had shot just a big chase sequence on a budget of Rs 1.5 crore.
While Vishal and Tamannaah Bhatia are playing the lead roles in the film, the mass actioner also features Tollywood actor Jagapati Babu playing a baddie. Okkadochadu has also roped in Sampath Raj, Charan and Jaya Prakash in crucial roles. For comic relief, actors Brahmanandam and JP are included in the movie. Hiphop Thamizh will be rendering music for Okkadochadu.
Meanwhile, Okkadochadu joining the Sankranti race might again be a box office loss as many films casting big-ticket stars have already booked slots for January including Chiranjeevi’s Khaidi No 150, Balakrishna’s Gautamiputra Satakarni and Venkatesh’s Guru. So, it’s actually a worth to the wait to see how the movies will fare in both the industries
