Bollywood actress Vidya Balan has tweeted a picture of herself reading the biopic of renowned Malayalam poet and writer Kamala Surayya. The actress is preparing for her first full-time non-Bollywood film, which will be made in Malayalam and English.
In March, Vidya had announced that she will play controversial writer Kamala Surayya on screen under the direction of seasoned Malayalam filmmaker Kamal. The film has been titled Aami, which is also based on the autobiography of Kamala Surayya, Ente Katha (My Story). She wrote under a pseudonym Kamala Das in English.
“As i prepare to tell ‘your story’ Kamala Das,” Vidya tweeted a picture of her being engrossed in the biopic of the author.
As part of the preparation, Vidya, who has her roots in Kerala, is also learning Malayalam for the film. Malayalam actress SreeDhanya has been reportedly been training her in the language.
The film also stars Malayalam superstar Prithviraj. Previously, he had worked with Vidya in Santhosh Sivan’s period drama Urmi, in which she had played an extended cameo role.
According to reports, the crew will start shooting for Aami on September 25 in Kerala. And some portions of the film will also be shot in Delhi and Mumbai.
The ‘Dirty Picture’ star is also waiting for her next release, ‘Kahaani 2’, which also stars Arjun Rampal and is directed by Sujoy Ghosh. The film is scheduled to release on November 25.
