Veteran playback singer S P Balasubramanyam has lent his voice for a song in Balakrishna’s 100th film Gautamiputra Satakarni. The song will be a duet by SPB and Bollywood’s Shreya Ghoshal.
The singer was elated to work with the new music composers and shared his joy on Facebook. “Recorded a duet song for Krish’s Telugu movie for Mr. Balakrishna for Gouthameeputhra Saathakarni. Shreya Ghoshal sang her part in Mumbai first, I sang my portion today in Hyderabad. Sirivennela Seethaarasma Saastry’s lyric was tuned by Mr. Chirranthan Bhatt. Nice melody. Pleasure working with the present generation of music composers too[sic],” shared SPB.
The film’s music director Chirrantan Bhatt was also euphoric that SPB has lent his voice for a song. “Just recorded with the Maestro. Voice like nectar. Magical #GautamiPutraSatakarni #Hyderabad,” he tweeted.
SPB has been out for a while singing for commercial films for a long time. The singer was also awarded Centenary award for his contributions to India cinema for over 50 years during the 47th International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
Meanwhile, Gautamiputra Satakarni also completed its last leg of shooting in exotic and unexplored locations in Morocco and Georgia and the team is gearing for the release of the film in January next year. The audio of the film will be launched on December 16 along with the trailer of the film.
The movie is based on the life history of a warrior of the Satavahana empire in the second century CE, Gautamiputra Satakarni. While Balakrishna is playing the titular role, Shriya Sarana and Bollywood queen Hema Malini will be playing crucial roles in the film. It is directed by National Award-winner Krish.
