Director Ram Gopal Varma’s next political thriller Vangaveeti is all set to hit the screens on December 23. After presenting Paritala Ravi’s story as Rakta Charitra, RGV is bringing another political, gang war and a crime-based story about Vijayawada’s politician-cum-factionist Vangaveeti Ranga.
The director said he had witnessed many of such events in his life, inspiring him to bring this story to light. “Vangaveeti is my dream film dealing with Vijayawada politics and rowdy gang cultures. I have been a personal witness to many of the happenings in this film,” said RGV.

Vangaveeti is a story about former Congress MLA Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga, and his brother Vangaveeti Radha. It deals with the influence and power-play they had during the caste war and political turmoil in Vijayawada during the 70s and 80s.
RGV will be visiting Vijayawada for Vangaveeti audio launch function to be held on December 3 at Koneru Lakshmaiah University Grounds. The film’s trailer was released on October 2 as a Gandhi Jayanti special and has registered close to 2 million views.
Under RGV’s direction, the movie features Sandeep as Vangaveeti Radha and Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga, Vamsi Nakkanti as Chalasani Venkata Ratnam, Vamsee Chaganti as Devineni Murali, Kautilya as Devineni Gandhi, Shritej as Devineni Nehru and Naina Gangualy as Ratna Kumari. Music was composed by Ravi Shankar and Dasaru Kiran Kumar is bankrolling the movie.
Meanwhile, RGV is busy with the shooting of Sarkar 3, a gritty political thriller set in the world of Maharashtra politics and crime. The film features Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan and other popular actors including Jackie Shroff, Manoj Bajpayee and Yami Gautam.
