There’s nothing new about director Ram Gopal Varma using his Twitter timeline for creating controversies, issuing statements laced with sarcasm and remarks highlighting his politically incorrect stance. In the past couple of days, the buzz has been intense because of his sexist tweets on the US First Lady Michelle Obama. But what made him eat his own words is a comment he made on Akhil Akkineni. The director deleted the tweet late last night.
The director reportedly tweeted about the actor’s decision to marry, questioning him why he was taking such a hasty step so early in his career. “@AkhilAkineni8 Even before a career takes off (I) can’t understand why the f**k you wanna land in marriage but since am f**k I hope for her u not f**ed up,” he tweeted. The director took the flak after the tweet even though the actor remained neutral and didn’t respond to RGV’s comment.
Akhil’s father Nargajuna, a day earlier, had congratulated RGV on his new project NUCLEAR.”Very happy for @RGVzoomin doing a fantastic international project/Make us proud ramu (sic),” he had written on Twitter. However, it seems that the director faced the wrath of the Akkineni family, as Nagarjuna appears to have deleted the tweet after RGV’s comments on his son.
Though RGV thanked Nagarjuna for giving him a break, his damage control didn’t help. “Hey Nag, I owe 10 lifetimes to u for giving break in Shiva to an amateur like me. That proves your vision of me more than whether I have vision,” RGV had said.
The Akkineni scion Akhil is getting engaged to his girlfriend Shriya Bhupal and the ceremony is scheduled to take place on December 9 at GVK House in Hyderabad. Nagarjuna’s younger son Akhil has been in a relationship with Shriya for quite some time now. They both were spotted in many T-Town parties too. Meanwhile, the buzz is that the couple will have a destination wedding, mostly likely in Italy. The reports also suggest that the marriage will be a grand function with nearly 600-odd guests flying to Italy from all around the world.
