Actor Prithviraj on Thursday made a big announcement about his next project on his social media accounts. The news has come as a sweet surprise as the leading Malayalam actor said that he will make his directorial debut with a movie starring superstar Mohanlal!

The film titled ‘Lucifer’ with Mohanlal aka Lalettan in the lead will be bankrolled by Antony Perumbavoor’s Aashirvad Cinemas. And multifaceted filmmaker Murali Gopy will write the screenplay for the film.

The buzz is that ‘Lucifer’ was a brainchild of late director Rajesh Pillai and Murali Gopy. The duo wanted to make this film years ago. However, the project never took off. It seems nothing happens ahead of its time!

Prithviraj tweeted a selfie with the ‘Lucifer’ team along with the announcement. “”LUCIFER” starring The Lalettan, written by Murali Gopy, produced by Aashirvad Cinemas will be my directorial debut!,” the Oozham star tweeted.

The makers, meanwhile, are yet to reveal the details about the cast and crew members. Incidentally, Prithviraj’s latest Onam release ‘Oozham’ had clashed with Mohanlal’s ‘Oppam’ at the box office. While the critics and the audience raved about the latter’s film, which is still going strong at the Kerala box office, ‘Oozham’ opened to mixed reviews.

The critical review of the film irked the fans of Prithviraj, who began to post negative comments about other actors and their films on the social media. However, Prithviraj didn’t turn a blind eye to it or take it lightly.

He wrote an open letter to his fans in Malayalam thanking them for their unconditional love and support. But at the same time, he urged them not to indulge in badmouthing or spreading negativity about other films and actors on social media.
