Filmmaker Mani Ratnam, who is gearing up to shoot his upcoming Tamil romantic drama Kaatru Veliyidai in Ladakh later this month, has resumed a short schedule in Hyderabad, a source said. “He started shooting in Hyderabad earlier this month. It will be a 10-day schedule and then the team will head to Ladakh for over a month of shooting,” a source from the film’s unit said. Starring Karthi and Aditi Rao Hydari in the lead, the film has music by A.R Rahman.
In the film, Karthi plays a pilot and will be seen in love with Aditi Rao Hydari who plays the role of a doctor. The film is produced by Madras Talkies and the film also stars Shraddha Srinath, Rukmini Vijayakumar, RJ Balaji, Delhi Ganesh and veteran Malayalam actress Lalitha in pivotal roles. Mani Ratnam’s recent box office success, OK Kanmani, starring Dulquer Salmaan and Nithya Menon, is on its way to be adapted in Hindi as well. The Bollywood version of this Tamil film will star Aashiqui 2 lead cast, Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor. The film, which will be called OK Jaanu in Hindi, will be directed by Shaad Ali, who in the past has directed films like Saathiya, Bunty Aur Babli and Kill Dill.

There are speculations that Mani Ratnam might cast Chiranjeevi’s son Ram Charan Teja in his next bilingual film. According to reports, the Telugu-Tamil bilingual movie will be a commercial entertainer, but in Mani Ratnam style. However, there is no official confirmation on the project. Mani Ratnam’s Kaatru Veliyidai which means breezy expanse, is taken from one of legendary Tamil poet Bharathiyar’s poems. The film is slated for early 2017 release.
