Speculations are rife that ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam will be directing Telugu actor Ram Charan Teja in his next film soon. The buzz is that the Telugu-Tamil bilingual movie will be a commercial entertainer, but in Mani Ratnam style.
There is, however, no official confirmation of the said project, either from the director or the actor. If the speculations turn out to be true, then it marks Ratnam’s departure from tradition as the director is known for making only one film at a time.
A couple of years ago, Ratnam and Teja reportedly had discussed about doing a film together. However, it never materialised.
Ratnam is currently busy shooting for his upcoming movie ‘Kaatru Veliyidai’ starring Karthi and Aditi Rao Hydari. The romantic film had created quite a buzz with its interesting first look poster.
The film is bankrolled by Ratnam’s home production Madras Talkies and has music from Oscar-winning musician A R Rahman.
Mani Ratnam, who had been going through a rough patch in his illustrious career, made a solid comeback last year with a romantic flick, Ok Kanmani, starring Dulquer Salmaan and Nithya Menen in the lead roles. The film was based on the subject of live-in relationship.
His next film titled Kaatru Veliyida, which means breezy expanse, is taken from one of legendary Tamil poet Bharathiyar’s poems.
The film is slated for early 2017 release.
