Sailing into uncharted waters, Manchu Manoj is set to take up the role of former LTTE militant chief Velupillai Prabhakaran in his the new movie Okkadu Migiladu. The filmmakers pushed out the first look poster of the movie on Monday.
Prabhakaran was the founder of militant organisation Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam or LTTE. The 25-year violent moment led by him spurred into a civil war kind of situation in Sri Lanka in 90s. After years of fighting, the conflict was halted with international mediation in 2001.
The Telugu film that is being directed by Ajay Andrews Nuthakki is said to showcase Manoj playing the powerful role.
“We are extremely happy with audience reactions to Manchu Manoj first look as Velupillai Prabhakaran in Okkadu Migiladu. This movie is based on true incidents happened in 1990 during Sri Lankan Civil war leaving the lives of 15 Lakh refugees at peril. Manoj is very co-operative and worked very hard to resemble his looks as Prabhakaran by gaining weight. We shot 25 days of civil war episodes in Parawada near Vizag. He gave a high intense performance with hard-hitting dialogues. We are left with 25 per cent of production work and this will be the best film in Manchu Manoj career till date,” said director Ajay Andrews Nuthakki.
While Siva Nandigama is rendering music for the film, the movie is bankrolled by SN Reddy and Lakshmikanth under SNR Films India Pvt Ltd and New Empire Celluloids. Art production and cinematography are handled by PS Verma and VK Ramaraju respectively.
