Maverick filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma known for his controversial statements and mockery on social media, leaves no stone unturned to surprise the audience every other day. But something happened that we are sure left him equally surprised and grabbed his attention. He has now become a subject of PhD work by an Andhra University student.
The director, after reading this piece of news, was in complete disbelief that he has become a topic of importance for a scholarly work.
“Me a subject of a PhD study? My daughter thinks I should be put in a cage in a zoo and here’s someone who wants to do a PhD study on me,” RGV posted on Twitter.
Andhra University’s Telugu department student Praveen Yajjala is the scholar who chose RGV for his case study in her PhD. Reports also reveal that the study is going to come out in the form of a book tracing the director’s career in the films.
The thesis titled “Ram Gopal Varma Individuality, Cinema – Critical review”[translated from Telugu] was what Yajjala had submitted in October to the University in Visakhapatnam. However, RGV doubts the scholar’s wits.
“These are the sections in the PhD on me and I don’t know if Praveen Yajjala is as mad as me to do a PhD on me,” the director added.
RGV had also penned down a titled book ‘Na Ishtam’ followed by the noted lyricist Sirasri’s book ‘Vodka With Varma’ and recently the director authored ‘Guns And Thighs’. However, it is definitely worth a curiosity to know what the scholar might have written on the director.
Meanwhile, RGV is busy with the shooting of the third part of his Sarkar franchise featuring Amitabh Bachchan.
