The Ludhiana police on Thursday registered an FIR against Punjabi singer Nachhatar Gill for allegedly raping an aspiring model, making obscene videos and issuing threats. The FIR has been registered under sections 376,420,506 of the IPC and 66 E and 67 A of IT Act. The FIR,which also names three other persons, was lodged following a complaint by the model four months ago.
The model,a Punjab resident, had accused Gill and his three associates of sexually exploiting her in lieu of giving her a role in a music video album and making her a top model. In her statement to the police, the girl has said she met Gill in 2006 at a beauty contest Jalandhar, where Singh was a judge.
The woman had added that she was given sedative-laced drink by the accused in a Chandigarh hotel, following which her obscene pictures were clicked. When I asked Gill about his promises,he started blackmailing me by threatening that he will make the obscene videos and pictures public, she had said.
The case has been registered at PAU police station. Sukhwinder Kaur,SHO of the woman police station, said: We are yet to arrest the singer but will do it soon. The role of the three is being probed.
When contacted,Gill claimed innocence. I am innocent and it will be proved very soon. This is a strategy adopted by the girl to get fame. I have submitted all documents to the police and have cooperated with the investigation at every point. Maybe some others are too taking advantage of the situation. But I will prove my innocence in a press conference very soon, he said.
