They might have once shared some kind of brotherhood bond, but things aren’t exactly mushy between Zayn Malik and his former band boys, One Direction.

Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik’s music director friend Naughty Boy, whose real name is Shahid Khan, were involved in a nasty Twitter spat on Wednesday (May 6). Malik, who quit One Direction in March, also fired back at his former bandmate.

It all began when Naughty Boy posted a picture with Malik on Twitter, captioning it as ‘Replace this’, which may have been a cheeky reference to the rumour about One Direction replacing Malik in the band.

Tomlinson responded with a tweet of his own, poking fun at the picture.

Zayn Malik was quick to defend his music director pal, Naughty Boy and said ‘stop making bitchy comments.’

But Louis Tomlinson and Naughty Boy were not yet done with their take down. The Twitter spat got personal as they both started making unflattering comments about the other’s music profession.

After Zayn Malik’s departure from the band, One Direction has continued as a four-piece band with Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson.

Zayn had posted a statement on Facebook: My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band. I’d like to apologise to the fans if I’ve let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart. I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight. I know I have four friends for life in Louis, Liam, Harry and Niall. I know they will continue to be the best band in the world.”

One Direction had also posted on the social networking site: “We’re really sad to see Zayn go, but we totally respect his decision and send him all our love for the future. The past five years have been beyond amazing, we’ve gone through so much together, so we will always be friends. The four of us will now continue. We’re looking forward to recording the new album and seeing all the fans on the next stage of the world tour.”
