Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence and “Jurassic World” star Chris Pratt are uniting for a big-budget sci-fi drama “Passengers”.

The upcoming Sony Pictures film will be directed by “The Imitation Game” helmer Morten Tyldum, said The Hollywood Reporter. Rumours are that the discussion on the fees of the two stars’ delayed the movie’s shooting, which will finally begin in September.

35-year-old Pratt’s pay has jumped from USD 10 million to USD 12 million while Lawrence, 24, is getting an exceptional  USD 20 million against 30 percent of the profit after the movie breaks even, say sources.

Sony’s chairman Tom Rothman apparently wrestled with whether to greenlight it, put it in turnaround or place it with Jeff Robinov’s nascent Studio 8, which is partly owned by Sony and will distribute its films through the studio but has outside financial backing.

“Passengers” bounced from place to place before landing at Sony Pictures. At one time, when it was a Weinstein Company project with Keanu Reeves and Reese Witherspoon, it was budgeted at a modest USD 35 million.

Recently, Rachel McAdams was attached to the project.
