Following Tom Hardy’s exit from the project, Gyllenhaal was eyed to replace him to play Rick Flag. However, the 34-year-old actor has turned down the offer, reported Variety.

‘Suicide Squad’ centers on a group of DC super-villains who are sent to dangerous missions by the government to redeem their past. Jared Leto, Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney and Cara Delevingne are set to play The Joker, Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Boomerang and Enchantress respectively.

Earlier this week, a report regarding the movie’s plot emerged. Another report which surfaced additionally suggested that Ben Affleck’s Batman would appear in ‘Suicide Squad’ and that his appearance would lead to a Batman solo movie.

Directed by David Ayer, ‘Suicide Squad’ reportedly is starting production in April for an August 5, 2016 release.
