Eminem is back after four years and the first song from his upcoming album, Revival, just dropped a few hours ago. Featuring Beyonce, the song “Walk on Water” is out already and what could have been an excellent collaboration is not getting all the love from Eminem fans.
In the song, Beyonce sings, “I walk on water, but I ain’t no Jesus. I walk on water. But only when it freezes.” Unlike many of Eminem’s previous tracks, this song has a certain calmness to it. Eminem’s rap through most of the song is self-deprecating and it feels like he has risen out of the tracks and lyrics he wrote until a few years ago. The song has extensive use of piano which immediately makes it feel like a drastically different Eminem track. Throughout the song, there are sounds of turning pages and it provides a raw feeling to the track. Just a couple of days ago, Eminem had tweeted about his upcoming track, “Walk on Water. Take as needed.”
Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Bruce Mathers, faced a lot of hate from his fans recently when he openly criticised them for voting for Trump. Eminem has been quite vocal about his struggle with drug abuse and his fans have supported him throughout his journey. Revival is expected to be a trilogy after his albums Relapse and Recovery. Eminem’s album, Revival, is scheduled to release on November 17.
