With the start of the festive season,it’s bonanza time on Television. Shows with fresh storylines are given preference, premium shows like Sony’s Bade Achhe Lagte Hain and Zee’s Pavitra Rishta are going in for generation leaps.

It all starts with Amitabh Bachchan’s return as the nation’s favourite Quiz Master in the seventh season of Sony’s Kaun Banega Crorepati. There are many additions to the show. The prize money is a whopping Rs 7 crores, the sets have been given a facelift. Some rules of the game have also been changed — the Fastest Finger First will now have three questions and the contestants will have five lifelines instead of three.

We can expect changes in Colors’ Bigg Boss also. As it can be gleaned from the promos, the seventh season of the reality show will play around the concept of Heaven and Hell. While the list of final contestants is closely guarded,it is believed that some ex-contestants that created hell inside the house have been called back. Names floating around are of the likes of Pooja Misrra,Dolly Bindra and Imam Siddique. With Salman Khan hosting his favourite gig,we can definitely expect some fireworks.

Interestingly,TV is turning out to be the new medium for big Bollywood battles. While Big B and Salman Khan are already in the Television Viewership in Thousand (TVT)race with their shows,Anil Kapoor joins them as his much touted 24 goes on air on Colors. Kapoor plays ATU Chief Jai Singh Rathod and the show captures 24 hours of his life in real time — just like the original Fox show where Kiefer Sutherland played Jack Bauer. If 24 clicks then it can herald the big shift in the fiction space on TV.

While saas, bahu, betis and their saazish still dominate the TVT charts,an attempt is being made to offer something new. Star Plus will launch its Rs 100 crore —replete with special effects — Mahabharat. Zee TV’s Shilpa Shirodkar starrer Ek Mutthi Aasman is a desi adaptation of The Help. In Life Ok’s Ek Boond Ishq,a shemale character has been introduced. While in Gustakh Dil,a wife becomes the second woman in her husband’s life since he only loves his childhood sweetheart.

Enough to make us all tune in,don’t you think so?
