Trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh gave the official figures saying the film collected Rs 30 crore in India and Rs 12 crore overseas.

“We are delighted with the response to the film which has been a labour of love over the last two years. We thank the critics and the audiences that have helped build such a momentum to the film”, Eros International Plc., CEO and Managing Director, Jyoti Deshpande said.

Taran Adarsh also informed that the film opened to a humungous response across Tamil Nadu.

The film also stars Bollywood belle Deepika Padukone and Jacky Shroff in pivotal roles and marks Rajinikanth’s daughter Soundarya R Ashwin’s directorial debut.

The film uses photo-realistic motion capture technology which is used in Hollywood films like ‘The Adventures of Tin Tin’ and ‘Avatar’. However, this is the first time that the technology will be used in an Indian film.

Eros International released the film in 2D and 3D on May 23 in six languages in over 3,000 screens worldwide. ‘Kochadaiiyan: The Legend’ is the first motion capture film to be released in six Indian languages. The music has been composed by Oscar winner A R Rahman and MediaOne Global Entertainment and Eros International have produced it.
