Meryl Streep to star in The Giver

Meryl Streep,64,is in talks to play the chief elder,the authoritarian charged with keeping order in a society that seems utopian.

Oscar-winner Meryl Streep is set to be the new addition to Jeff Bridges starrer drama The Giver,an adaptation of Lois Lowry’s dystopian children’s novel.

The film is a co-production between The Weinstein Company

and Walden Media and is being directed by Phil Noyce,reported Deadline.

Meryl Streep,64,is in talks to play the chief elder,the authoritarian charged with keeping order in a society that seems utopian. They have eliminated pain and strife by converting to “Sameness” a plan that has also eradicated emotional depth from their lives.

Jonas,a 12-year-old,is selected to be the receiver of memories,who stores all the memories before the sameness.

Bridges,63,plays the lead role of the previous receiver.
