Life of Pi singer Bombay Jayashri to perform in Chandigarh

The Oscar-nominated singer will sing in a Classical musical concert on Monday,April 1.

The North Zone chapter of the Society for Promotion of Indian Classic Music and Culture Amongst Youth (SPICMACAY) has organised a Classical musical concert by Bombay Jayashri here on Monday,April 1.

Bombay Jayshree’s ‘Pi’s Lullaby’ from Ang Lee’s Life of Pi was nominated in the Original song category at the Academy awards this year. The song,written and sung by the ace singer came into controversy when Irayimman Thampi,a trust named after Carnatic music alleged that it is a word-by-word translation of composer Thampi’s renowned lullaby in Malayalam Omanathinkal Kidavo…

The concert will be held at the Imtech Auditorium in Sector 39 at 7 pm. She will be accompanied on the violin by KJ Dileep and on mridingam by Sumesh S Narayanan. Jayashri’s rendition in Life of Pi was recently nominated for the Oscar award.

According to Dr Shakuntala Lavasa,chairperson of the Chandigarh chapter of SPICMACAY,the concert is open for all lovers of classical music.

SPICMACAY is also organising classical Mohiniyattam dance by Methil Devika at NIPER auditorium,Sector 67 on April 3,Dr Lavasa added.
