After the huge success of his Vidya Balan-starrer Kahaani and the tepid response that his acting debut in Rituparno Ghosh’s Bangla film Satyanewshi received,Sujoy Ghosh has now signed up a film with Balaji Motion Pictures Ltd.

“It was just a few days back that Balaji acquired the rights of the book and they called me. I agreed to direct the film as I loved the book when I had read it,” said Ghosh.

Balaji has acquired the Hindi film adaptation rights of The Devotion of Suspect X. This book is the third in the cult Detective Galileo series of Japanese author Keigo Higashino who is known for his mystery novels. The novel has even won the 6th Honkaku Mystery Grand Prize, one of the most prestigious awards in the mystery novels category in Japan.

“Yes. And it has also been adapted into films in Japanese and Korean languages and is also being made in Hollywood. And no,I haven’t seen the films,” said Ghosh adding that,“I have never adapted a book into a film. So I am really looking forward to this film. While it is too early to say anything about the project as nothing has been finalised yet,all I can say is that though it is a detective series at the core it is a wonderful love story.”
