I have learnt my lessons: Kangana Ranaut

The 22-year-old actress says that it has not been an easy ride but insists that she has learnt her lessons.

Bollywood is no bed of roses, especially for Kangana Ranaut,a small town girl walking the tight rope of showbiz, balancing controversies, heartbreaks and a fledgling career in films.

The 22-year-old actress says that it has not been an easy ride but insists that she has learnt her lessons.

And to share those lessons,Kangana has decided to support a new show ‘Pratigya’ to be aired on Star Plus from December 7 which de tails the life of a small town girl grappling with situations of eve teasing and disrespect but coming out as a reformer in the end.

“In metros girls are very independent, conscious and aware. But in the interiors of our country where education is not given importance, they continue to be oppressed. But it is important for every woman to acknowledge what she wants from herself rather than going for what people expect from her,” Kangana said.

“I have faced a lot of eve teasing myself. I remember I could not step out my home after 6 pm in fear of getting hounded by hooligans. But now I think we should stand up to such situations and fight back,” she added.

The actress, who reportedly had an affair with actor Aditya Pancholi and complained of being physically abused by him, says she has had her share of “tortures” but has come out as a winner.

“Nobody was my support. You have to support yourself and I think that is the beauty of being a woman. You can handle anything and be ten times better than men,” she said.

Kangana started her career with Mahesh Bhatt’s 2006 film ‘Gangster’ a commercial hit where her talent was instantly noticed. She was also critically lauded for playing a schizophrenic actress in Shiney Ahuja starrer ‘Woh Lamhe’,a character, loosely based on 80’s pin-up star Parveen Babi.

The actress went on star in multi-starrer hits like ‘Life In A Metro’ and ‘Fashion’ but returned with a lead in 2009 ‘Raaz – The Mystery Continues’.

However, along with her came another controversy surrounding her off-screen romance with actor Adhyayan Suman.

The loved-up photographs of the couple were splashed all over the tabloids but the rosy picture soon turned dull when Kangana and Adhyayan announced their break-up. The actress has since then been single and insists that she has no plans to get hitched in the near future.

“You know a lot of my friends are getting married but I don’t think that is what I need. I am under no such pressure that if everybody is having a boyfriend I too should have one.

Presently my career and my family are the most important in my life,” Kangana said.

She may be in no hurry to find a boyfriend soon but Kangana is quite sure what she wants or rather does not want from her partner.

“I need nothing from my companion. No money,no financial security,no emotional support, nothing. All I want is the freedom to be myself,” Kangana said.
