We have seen Taapsee Pannu nervously standing up for herself in Pink, we have seen in her full swing in Baby. And now, the actress is shooting for her new film Naam Shabana, which is the prequel to the 2015 blockbuster Baby starring Akshay Kumar. Although she appeared on the screen for nearly 20 minutes in the film, Taapsee Pannu was able to leave a strong impact on the audience. This time, however, Taapsee Pannu will be seen doing more than breaking a glass bottle on someone who comes to attack her.
She is back with a full-fledged action film in Naam Shabana and she will get to do her own stunts. After Akira, this will probably be the next film where a woman will be seen in an action avatar. In Bollywood, although we have had many women-centric films, very few of them have actually been based on women doing stunts and action like men.
Recent examples would include Sonakshi Sinha in Akira, Rani Mukherjee in Mardaani and Priyanka Chopra in Mary Kom and Jai Gangajaal. Although Deepika Padukone was not seen with guns, her royal action sequences in Bajirao Mastani had a certain ancient charm to it.
It seems the Kashibai and Mastani of Bollywood ( Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone) are satisfying themselves with stunt roles on American platform. While Priyanka Chopra kills assailants in Quantico, Deepika Padukone will be seen in xXx: Return of the Xander Cage.
It only makes you wonder why she didn’t use some more of these stunts in Pink.
