‘Calendar Girls’ teaser is out, looks like just another Madhur Bhandarkar movie

Madhur Bhandarkar is a genius; a fact that has been proved time and again by movies like ‘Traffic Signal’, ‘Page 3’ and ‘Fashion’, but then, those were the times when these movies were first-of-its-kind. Not anymore.

‘Heroine’ starring Kareena Kapoor failed since it had a similar storyline as ‘Fashion’, which ironically had catapulted Priyanka Chopra to superstardom. Priyanka won a National Award for the movie.

Cut to ‘Calendar Girls’, the script looks similar to ‘Fashion’ – five ultra pretty girls caught in the web of the fashion industry. They shoot to popularity and then fall, not only in career, but also in their lives. A steep fall, as they say.

The elements that are different from Madhur’s earlier movies are the faces. The five actresses – Avani Modi, Satarupa Pyne, Kyra Dutt, Akanksha Puri and Ruhi Singh – are beautiful and look dreamy in the teaser.

‘Calendar Girls’ does look promising only if we consider Madhur’s repertoire as a filmmaker and his ability to delve deep into human emotions. And we must say, he has a tough task ahead to land this movie of his in a newer territory, far different from ‘Page 3’ or ‘Fashion’s.
