Young starlet Jhanvi Kapoor is one of the most talked about celebrities of Bollywood right now. And it is, thus, obvious for her mother Sridevi to fret about her much-awaited Bollywood debut. Jhanvi has long been reported to be working with filmmaker Karan Johar for her first film and now a report in Mid-day says that it will be titled Dhadak and will go on floors in the next month.
Talking to Mid-day, Sridevi also reveals how she is more excited than nervous for Jhanvi. She says that as a mother, she “can’t help but give her tips about everything – from how to dress to what she eats”. Yet, Sridevi says that she wants her elder daughter to make her own place in the industry. “Children have their own mind. When it comes to her work, I don’t want to advise. She must cultivate her craft all by herself, make her own choices and chart her own path.”
But we very well know how Bollywood is used to pitting actors against each other. And even before Jhanvi has made her debut, comparisons between her and Sara Ali Khan are more than common.
Talking about the two starlets, Sridevi says, “Competition can never be eliminated from this industry. There is nothing wrong with it. It keeps you on your toes, making you work harder. But, the biggest challenge lay in bettering your craft, and faring better than you did the last time.”
But unfettered by all the rumours, Jhanvi and Sara have already found a friend in each other, a friendship that Sridevi is also fond of. She adds, “You don’t have to turn your face away from each other just because you are pitted against one another at work.”
