Ajay Devgn has more than one reason to celebrate this Diwali — his directorial Shivaay is sailing smoothly towards box office after the censor board passed the film with just one cut. However, its competition, Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, is fighting its way to the theatres with the film in the eye of the storm as it stars Pakistani actor Fawad Khan.

Shivaay, which will release on October 28, has been passed by Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with just one cut and has been given a U/A certificate. According to the reports, the censor board has demanded only one cut in the film — which is to trim the kiss and love-making scene between Ajay and Erika Kaar. The board did not mind giving it a U/A certificate as even the action in the film isn’t gory and the movie, on the whole, is suitable for family audience. Ajay is expected to get the certificate today (October 17).

The running time of ‘Shivaay’ is 175 minutes (2 hours 55 minutes) whereas that of ‘ADHM’ is 158 minutes (2 hours 38 minutes).

Actor-filmmaker Ajay said his forthcoming directorial venture Shivaay has been granted a U/A certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

Ajay — who has acted in, directed and co-produced Shivaay — took to Twitter to share that the censor board officials were “highly cordial” and “co-operative” over certifying the film.

“‘Shivaay’ has been certified U/A. CBFC was highly cordial and co-operative. Many thanks to Pahlaj Nihalaniji,” Ajay tweeted.

“Shivaay”, which is slated to release on October 28 around the occasion of Diwali, will clash at the box office with filmmaker Karan Johar’s “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil”, which is currently facing problems for featuring Pakistan actor Fawad Khan.

Apart from Ajay, the film also stars Sayyeshaa Saigal, Erika Kaar, Vir Das and Girish Karnad.

On the contrary, reports said CBFC had demanded five cuts in Karan Johar’s film, which also included a steamy scene between Ranbir Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. However, Dharma Productions have denied this news and said the film was passed without any cuts.Though, Karan Johar released a statement saying, “see you in theatres on October 28”, will single screens and

After the certificate, Karan Johar released a statement saying, “see you in theatres on October 28”. However, with a body of single-screen theatre owners requesting its members not to screen the film due to the presence of Fawad, its release is in a disarray.
