It’s been a week and Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay still continues to give tough competition to Karan Johar’s star-studded film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil which released simultaneously. After a good Diwali week, things are getting better for Shivaay at the box office. After completing one week at the theatres, the film is almost nearing the 100 crore club.

Until now Shivaay has done well on the single screens in comparison to the multiplexes, where Karan Johar’s directorial Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has been ruling. The movie made a quiet opening with a collection of Rs 10.24 crore but it has been picking up ever since. By Friday, it collected Rs. 75.02 crore at the box office, according to the numbers given by Taran Adarsh.

Although there are not any Bollywood releases this week, Marvel comic’s new film Doctor Strange starring Benedict Cumberbatch might stand as a huge competition for the Ajay Devgn’s film.

Ajay Devgn has returned as a director with this movie after eight long years. Before Shivaay, his directorial U Me Aur Hum tanked at the box office. But trade experts were hopeful from the very start that this action-thriller won’t face a similar plight.

Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is not only doing a superb business in India but is also attracting a lot of attention in the international markets. None of the movies, however, managed to gain much of the critics’ appreciation.
