Shah Rukh Khan turned 50 today and his team made sure no stone remained unturned to make it resemble a larger than life celebration similar to his blockbuster movies. SRK, who had a busy day since midnight, spent most of his time today accepting birthday wishes from near and dear ones and greeting the legion of fans who had flocked outside his bungalow in Bandra, Mumbai.
The customary celebrations with the media was this time moved from the lawns of Mannat to a nearby five-star hotel keeping in mind the grandeur. King Khan arrived a couple of hours late but made sure the entire media fraternity was thoroughly entertained during his prolonged absence.
From stand-up comedian Nitin Mirani entertaining the audience with his spontaneous wisecracks to DJ Chetas playing on his hit remixes, the built-up to Shah Rukh Khan’s 50th celebration was truly entertaining.
Finally, in true King style, SRK made a blockbuster entry swaying to the tunes of his popular numbers wearing shades and sporting his now trademark beard.
SRK did look a wee bit tired given that he had been shooting round the clock for his movies. However, that didn’t stop the actor from entertaining the press during the conference. From questions on Salman Khan to the impending clash with ‘Bajirao Mastani’ to giving his opinion about the growing intolerance in the country, Shah Rukh punctuated his answers with quotable quotes that only a SRK interaction will yield.
Downplaying the significance of birthday being a special day, SRK said that he looked at it like a normal day and spent a quiet time with close family members yesterday midnight.
The superstar caused a mini mayhem while posing for a group picture with shutterbugs. While the media called it a day, SRK was not yet done. The day had just begun for him for waiting outside to seek his darshan were a select group of fans that also included foreign nationals.
