The film has earned Rs 90.9 crore at the box office in the first week. The film managed to earn an impressive Rs 8.62 crore on Thursday, which was a holiday due to Raksha Bandhan.

Both the films are smaller in scale as compared to Akshay Kumar film, which has already got a positive word of mouth. Directed by Tinu Suresh Desai, Rustom released on 2300 screens and was made at a budget of Rs 50 crore. It is doing well in the international market also, especially the Middle East. Akshay Kumar had also tweeted a video thanking his fans and colleagues who had made Rustom such a big success.

This film is awful. Poorly made, badly over acted, totally unrealistic. What it does accurately show is that India has not progressed at all in many ways since the 1950's.
