The adaptation of the 1980 Khubsoorat remake is all set to take off in Rajasthan on November 10. The original Hrishikesh Mukherjee directed family drama had four principal characters.

There was Ashok Kumar,Dina Pathak,Rakesh Roshan and Rekha. While Kumar played the subdued patriarch of the Gupta household,Pathak played the no-nonsense matriarch. Rekha played the fun-loving,vivacious Manju who wanted to bring about a change in Dina Pathak’s strict demeanour and eventually falls in love with Roshan, one of the scions of the Gupta household.

And it was the intriguing dynamics between Rekha and Dina Pathak which was the mainstay of the film.

It’s no secret that Sonam Kapoor is reprising Rekha’s part and now what can be called a casting coup of sorts,it is learnt that Ratna Pathak Shah will be reprising her late mother,Dina Pathak’s role.

“The screenplay has undergone major changes and except for the fiery dynamics between Sonam and Ratna’s characters, the balance between all the other roles have changed.

Ashok Kumar’s role will be played by a new face who is a theater actor.

Roshan’s character will also be reprised by a new actor,” said a source. The adaptation is being headed by Shashank Ghosh and produced by Sonam’s sister Rhea Kapoor.
