Bollywood actress Preity Zinta is furious over a recent article by a leading English daily which ‘falsely’ quoted her mother Nilprabha.

The actress was recently in Varanasi on a personal visit which was perceived as a campaigning move for BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, who is contesting the Lok Sabha election from the holy city (apart from Vadodara).

The said article further suggested that Preity’s family is upset with her due to her ‘allegiance’ to Narendra Modi.

Preity took to Twitter to vent out saying, “Misquoting an actor is one story but creating an interview with my mom over a political discussion is unacceptable by me.”

Preity further said, ”Election time and things are getting dirtier so I’ll appreciate it if the media keeps my family out of it. Remember I’m not fighting Elections!”

Earlier, Preity Zinta had clarified her stance of visiting Varanasi, saying, “I have not gone to Varanasi to campaign for any party nor am I being paid to do so because frankly speaking my opinions are not for sale.”

She also added, “Urged the youth to go out and vote too. 1 Vote is more powerful than a 100 candle processions in protest of everything wrong in our system/country.”
