Actress Taapsee Pannu, who was born and raised in Delhi, revealed how she has faced harassment and was inappropriately touched by men in Delhi while she was a college-going teenager.

Talking to indianexpress.com, the Pink actress said, “Eve-teasing used to happen almost on a daily basis in Delhi. I used to travel in DTC buses while going to college for the longest time. I got my car when I was 19. So for two years before getting a car, I used to travel in DTC buses. And eve-teasing used to happen almost daily. Not just that, I have been touched inappropriately in DTC buses. Rubbed at wrong places while in a bus. And if we ventured into crowded areas in Delhi during the time of festivals, people used to touch you at inappropriate places. It was very common and has happened to me.”

When asked if she ever reacted to such inappropriate behaviour that outraged her modesty, Tapsee said, “Our upbringing is such that we are told don’t go here, don’t do this, don’t wear so and so clothes, don’t travel to a particular place. It feels as if I am committing a wrong. We are fed such beliefs and thoughts. So when it happened with me, I started running as if it was my mistake. A list of dos and don’ts are only for us women and not men.”

The actress will be seen in a powerful face-off with Amitabh Bachchan inside a courtroom in Pink. Big B plays a lawyer who will be questioning her character. The actress said playing the role was a challenging task.

“Amitabh sir believes in rehearsals and used to rehearse for two to three hours before the shoot. My technique is different and I am more spontaneous. I don’t like rehearsing. So I used to utilise that time to brainwash myself into getting into my character. The entire court session was filmed in one take. There were six cameras each and all rolling at the same time. I had an idea Mr. Bachchan would ask me questions like ‘Are you a virgin or not’. But I had no idea about the tone in which he would ask because I had not seen his rehearsals. So my reaction to his tone was my natural one. It was my real-time reaction. So when I shook my head initially after listening to his question, Mr. Bachchan improvised and said, ‘Don’t shake your head. Just say yes or no.’ That was not scripted at all.”
