Pink may have opened slow at the box office on Friday but the film has gathered speed with each passing day. The film starring Amitabh Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari, Andrea Tariang, Angad Bedi, Piyush Mishra and Dhritiman Chatterjee in key roles, is winning at the box office thanks to a very strong word of mouth.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “ is ROCK-STEADY… Fri 4.32 cr, Sat 7.65 cr, Sun 9.54 cr, Mon 3.78 cr, Tue 3.51 cr. Total: ₹ 28.80 cr. India biz.” He also wrote about how the film is winning international box office. “#Pink – OVERSEAS: Went from strength to strength with each passing day. UAE & USA-Canada contributed maximum. Total: $ 978,744 [₹ 6.55 cr]”.

Meanwhile, there is a strong demand to make the film tax free. “We want it to be tax free. People have been asking us to make it tax free. I think we are on the verge of making it tax free,” Pink’s co-producer Shoojit Sircar said at a press conference on Monday.

This contemporary youth-centric film conveys a strong, socially-relevant message about the choices young women of today make and about respecting those. Narrated in a linear manner, the simply presented film, essentially a courtroom drama, is powerful because of its dialogues and performances.

Directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhary, Pink stars Amitabh Bachchan in the role of a lawyer. The actor also spoke about how he is overwhelmed by the reaction to the film. “I am proud with the response for “Pink”. It feels great that the message the film wanted to convey has reached people in right way… Whenever there is too much of praise doubt arises if something wrong has happened. But when a lot of people said good things about the film, I felt its for real.”

Meanwhile, Emraan Hashmi’s Raaz Reboot — which also released last Friday — has fallen to the second position. Taran tweeted, “#RaazReboot Fri 6.30 cr, Sat 5.49 cr, Sun 6.30 cr, Mon 2.61 cr, Tue 2.27 cr. Total: ₹ 22.97 cr. India biz.”
