Call her the perfect amalgamation of traditional and modern, Deepika Padukone can slip into any avatar with much ease. So after she turned huntress Serena Unger in xXx: Return of Xander Cage, Deepika will now get into a signature Sanjay Leela Bhansali character in her next project, Padmavati. And that’s not all. She will shed smoky eyes and body suits of her Hollywood debut, and don a heavy lehenga with Rajasthani ornaments for Bhansali’s magnum opus. Wait, we have more. Deepika will begin shooting for Padmavati with a traditional ghoomar dance number.
Deepika is set to play the legendary and beautiful Rani Padmini in her next Bollywood film. She is leaving no stone unturned to put her best foot forward, quite literally. The 30-year-old actor has begun preparing for the dance number, which will be her first shoot from the film. We hear she has been rehearsing for hours to get the technicality of the dance and its footwork right.
Making us even more curious about more details about Deepika’s character, its casting director Shruti Mahajan took to Facebook to share the actor’s royal and elegant look in the film through a sketch. It is a fan-made sketch which has gone viral.
Bhansali is known to incorporate lavish and elaborate dances in all his film. And with larger than life sets and near-perfect detailing of the era gone by, every song becomes a mirror of history on the big screen. Deepika’s earlier numbers in Ram-Leela (Nagada Sang) and Bajirao Mastani (Deewani Mastani) are still as fresh in our minds. We do not doubt that even Padmavati will only add to this chartbuster list of songs.
While we await Deepika’s regal first look from Padmavati, check out some pictures from her Instagram which prove why she is the perfect fit for such royal characters.
