Sad that roles are not written for me anymore: Farida Jalal

Veteran actress Farida Jalal feels there are no characters written for her in the current era of feature films.

If you have ever wondered why actress Farida Jalal has disappeared from Hindi films for a long time now, it’s because roles are no longer written that could suit her stature and calibre.

Revealing this was Jalal herself yesterday at the premiere of YRF’s Love Shots, a series of six short films. When asked why she is not seen in feature films anymore, Jalal told us, “Did you see a role from the recent films which you felt could have been played by me? Roles are not written for me anymore.”

When asked if she considers it as a sad situation, Jalal said, “Of course it is.”

The veteran actress will be seen in Y films’ next offering, Love Shots where she has teamed up with Kulbhushan Kharbanda for a short film titled Scandal Point. Expressing her delight at collaborating with young minds, Jalal said, “It’s great to work with such refreshing talent. And to act with Kulbhushanji after long was a nice experience.”

The actress also said that she enjoys watching all the young actors and actresses from the current generation.
