Ajay Devgn was among the first actors to back Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s move to ban Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes to stem the flow of black money in the Indian economy. Now, days after the move when the common man is standing in serpentine queues at ATMs and bank counters, the actor has again come out in support of the move.
He had written in his tweet, “100 सोनार की, 1 लोहार की। Masterstroke @narendramodi.” PM Modi had also retweeted Devgn. Speaking to ANI on Sunday, Ajay called PM Modi’s step “historical” and the resulting inconvenience “trivial”. Talking about demonetisation as well as the cash drought, he said, “You really need guts to take a step like this; hats off as this will be beneficial in the long run.”
The actor added that he is aware that the decision has brought about a lot of discomfort for the common man. “Even my film is suffering because of this but in front of nation’s interest, I find this inconvenience trivial. I want to request people to not panic; there is time till December 30. People who’re not in desperate need for money can wait a bit.”
Talking about how his film is also suffering, the actor said, “Whenever change takes place, common man faces problems. People from my office are standing in queues and willing to face problems for a better future. Even my film is suffering because of this but in front of nation’s interest, I find this inconvenience trivial.”
