Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s memoir might have created a furor, but on the work front 2017 has turned out to be a golden year for him. With some impeccable roles in films like Raees, MOM and Babumoshai Bandookbaaz, Nawaz is nailing every genre with pure brilliance. And now, the first look of his upcoming crime thriller Monsoon Shootout is out and Nawaz is in his A-game with this grey character as well. Helmed by Amit Kumar, Monsoon Shootout also stars Vijay Varma in the role of a cop.

Given that Nawaz’s track record has been full of dark characters in the past, this skin-head look will be another feather in his cap. In the motion poster, Shiva (Nawaz’s character) asks Vijay in a point-blank manner if he is afraid of him, “Mujhse darta hai?” And that in itself is enough to establish the menace that Shiva is going to exude in the film. With monochrome detailing and a gritty soundtrack, Monsoon Shootout looks like one close to being a noir.

Monsoon Shootout premiered at Cannes Film Festival 2013 and even bagged a nomination under the Golden Camera category. Directed by Amit Kumar and produced by Guneet Monga, Anurag Kashyap, Arun Rangachari and Vivek Rangachari, this crime saga is being headlined by Nawazuddin Siddiqui and also stars Vijay Verma, Neeraj Kabi and Tannishtha Chatterjee in the primary roles. Monsoon Shootout focuses on the story of a policeman facing a life-altering decision where he must decide whether to shoot or not. It is all set to release on December 15, 2017.
