Much has been written about the tiff between two of the biggest ‘gharaanas’ in Bollywood – the Khans and the Bachchans, owing to the ‘queen’ of the Bachchan ‘gharaana’ Jaya Bachchan’s remark about Shah Rukh Khan’s recently released movie ‘Happy New Year’. But it seems like all the wars and battles are being fought in the news’ stories only, while the protagonists of these stories are frolicking away in film fests.
For the uninitiated, hells broke loose when Jaya Bachchan remarked about Shah Rukh Khan’s movie ‘Happy New Year’, “I watched it only because Abhishek was part of it. I told him he’s a great actor if he can act stupid in front of the camera like that. I couldn’t do it. But he did it so freely; I was impressed. Ofcourse I went and told the producer and the main actor of the movie that I’ve never seen a movie which was more nonsensical than this one. But he was so quick, an amazing man; he said, ‘But Jaya Aunty, not more nonsensical than Amar Akbar Anthony. And I said, atleast it was entertaining.”
People conjectured that Shah Rukh Khan would be angry at this not-so-pleasant statement made by Abhishek Bachchan’s mother, who happened to be a part of the aforementioned movie. Conjectures turned into stories and stories into twisted tales of apologies.
It was even reported that the Bachchans – Big B, Abhishek and Aishwarya – went to Mannat, SRK’s residence, and apologised to him for the remark made by Jaya Bachchan. And further it was said that SRK was in no mood to forgive the mighty Bachchans. But all this turned out to be a mere imagination only as SRK tweeted in denial of all of this.

Adding weight to this tweet, we, today, saw pictures of SRK with the Bachchans at the opening ceremony of Kolkata Film Fest and going by what we see, we can’t decipher anything except a happy friendship between the two households. SRK was seen conversing happily with Amitabh Bachchan, with the Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee standing beside them.
We couldn’t help but notice the cuteness of this picture, where Jaya and Amitabh Bachchan share a joke and SRK feels left out. He probably wants to know the joke. Awww!
The superstars were all smiles at the event and quite at peace with each other.
So, it seems like nothing’s wrong in this paradise and the statements made by Jaya Bachchan were simply blown out of proportion. Seems like there were no apologies made and all is actually well.
We certainly like and appreciate the camaraderie these people share and hope and pray it continues forever.
