Bollywood beauty Katrina Kaif is the latest Bollywood celebrity to be bitten by the Twitter bug. The actress, who will make her debut at Cannes Film Festival this year signed up on the social networking site last weekend, especially to promote her appearance at Cannes.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will also walk the red carpet at Cannes on May 17 and May 20.

Going by the handle, @KatrinaAtCannes, the actress made her Twitter debut with updates about attending a press conference for the L’Oreal Paris.

Katrina Kaif shared the stage with none other Sonam Kapoor at the press conference and both beauties seemed to have had a fabulous time together.

While, it’s expected that her Twitter account is solely for promotional purposes, one certainly does not expect Katrina to post updates about her personal life for fans. Known to be an extremely private person, the actress will surely not go down the road familiar to Bollywood celebrities including Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, who constantly share their opinions and updates about personal and professional happenings in their lives for their beloved fans.

Katrina’s rumoured boyfriend, Ranbir Kapoor had also singed up on Twitter to promote Lenovo. However, though the actor was on Twitter and other social networking platforms only for six hours, he had received a warm welcome and was trending with the keyword ‘Welcome Ranbir Kapoor’.

Another actress who briefly climbed onto the social networking wagon was actress Kajol, who joined micro-blogging site, Twitter for a short duration to update her fans about the happenings at United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) week.
