While we saw a satisfactory turnout from Bollywood at the polling booths on Thursday (April 24), a major chunk of B-Town is missing.

Since the past two days, Bollywood actors have been leaving in batches for the 15th edition of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Weekend and Awards, which kick started on April 23 at Tampa Bay, Florida.

Actress Sonakshi Sinha, whose father is contesting the elections, is already in Tampa Bay. The actress left on April 22 along with other celebrities including Saif Ali Khan and Vivek Oberoi.

Anil Kapoor is also in Tampa Bay and missed out on casting his vote. However, his responsible daughter Sonam Kapoor has stayed back in the city especially so that she could exercise her right.

IIFA’s host this year Farhan Akhtar, who has always spoken strongly about social causes, cast his vote this morning. The actor also encouraged people to go out and vote. However, his father Javed Akhtar and step-mother, veteran actress Shabana Azmi took off for IIFA on April 22.

Madhuri Dixit, Kareena Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan also seemed to have given more importance to the award weekend as they left for IIFA on April 23.

Stars like Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan specifically mentioned that they would head to Tampa Bay only after having voted.

A-Listers including Vidya Balan, Neha Dhupia, Aamir Khan and Sonam Kapoor were some of the early morning voters
