Anurag Kashyap had once called Vidya Balan the female Aamir Khan of B-town for being the first ever female actor to bring in footfalls to theatres akin to male superstars. “The female star doesn’t get the amount of money which a male star gets. Male star pulls more audience in the theatre as compared to female stars and that needs to be changed. Vidya Balan has brought that change and she has become female Aamir Khan and female Bachchan of Bollywood. This is very good and I wish we have more actresses like Vidya Balan,” Anurag had once said.

More from the world of Entertainment:

Vidya today finds the compliment flattering and quipped, “If my films do the box-office business that Aamir’s films do, I can still accept that I am a female Aamir Khan.”

However, the actress is candid enough to admit that it is not true at all. “Huge compliment when someone says am a female Aamir Khan but it is far from the truth. Aamir has been working since a long time. He has been doing a lot of films. He is also a marketing guru. I have never worked with him.”

While she may not have worked with Aamir or any other superstars, Vidya is proud about having carved a niche for herself on her own merit. “I would like to stand on my own two feet. I don’t want to put my hand on anyone else’s shoulder to stand tall. Not that anyone else is doing it. Please don’t mistake me. I am still standing on my own feet and feel very proud about that.”

The Kahaani actor also refused to take credit as the trendsetter in the field of women-centric films in the new era. “I didn’t take the onus of making women-centric films. Writers should be credited for writing these subjects. I was at the right place at the right time.”

To promote Kahaani 2, Vidya came dressed as Durga Rani Singh, her onscreen avatar. Interestingly, she arrived at the venue in a rickshaw. “I sat in auto and told the driver to take me to PVR Juhu. He couldn’t identify me.”

Vidya also revealed that she has received some great response for her ‘Wanted’ posters that have now been pasted at many popular places in Mumbai. Talking about Kahaani 2, Vidya said, “When we spoke about Kahaani 2, we thought about making it like a new film so that there is no pressure of any constant comparison of our film with first Kahaani. This is a new Kahaani. This is a new film and we have approached it in a new manner.”
